VETERAN OF THE WEEK: Daniel Stromberg

Lt Col Daniel Stromberg has been a member of the United States Air Force since graduating from BYU in 1998.  While at BYU he joined the Air Force ROTC, and upon graduation was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He was selected to attend pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi which began his love affair with flying.  Dan earned his wings in 1999 at the top of his class and was assigned as a C-17 pilot.  His first duty station was McChord Air Force Base, Washington.  While there he flew around the world supporting various operations, to include presidential support missions to Asia and Europe, MIA recovery missions to North Korea, and some of the first combat missions in Afghanistan in 2002 and Iraq in 2003.  In 2004 he was transferred to New Jersey and served at McGuire Air Force Base for the next 5 years.  While there he continued to fly around the world and was able to visit over 150 countries and every continent except Antarctica.  Dan has amassed over 4000 hours of flight time in the C-17, to include 500 hours of combat flying and over 200 hours on night vision goggles alone.

In 2008 Dan left the active duty Air Force for a job with the Air Force Reserves and Continental Airlines.  In 2009 he accepted a position with the California Air National Guard as a full time pilot.  He has been stationed at March Air Reserve Base ever since, flying another 2000 hours.  Although he has served in various leadership positions throughout his Air Force career, Dan has most recently been the Director of Operations and now the Squadron Commander of the 160th Attack Squadron, a job that keeps him extremely busy but one that he absolutely loves.

Along with work, Dan stays busy volunteering his time for our family and our community.  He coaches our son's football and baseball teams, and is a board member for the local little league.  He does a great job balancing work and family life, and football.  He will retire from the military next year and is looking forward to the next chapter of his life.

Dan is an avid football fan and has been since he was young.  He was extremely excited to see the Rams move back to LA so that he can now have the opportunity to take his son to football games.
