The St. Louis Rams Community Player of the Week is safety Cody Davis.

Like most rookies in the NFL, Cody Davis has had a lot on his plate this season adjusting to the game on a higher level and trying to carve out a place for himself on the field. But Cody has managed to do all of this and still give back to the St. Louis community, donating his time to help others in need.

“It’s great to see a rookie like Cody seeking out opportunities to be involved in his new community,” said Molly Higgins, Rams’ vice president of corporate communications/civic affairs. “And it’s important to us as a community outreach department to find efficient ways for the players to effectively assist the community and that’s especially true with rookies, who are adapting to a new way of life. Cody has really embraced those opportunities to be involved and make a difference while maintaining a focus on the field.”

Last week Cody visited St. Louis Children’s Hospital as part of the 2013 Love Light Festival. Cody joined Rampage, cheerleaders and other local personalities and celebrities in visiting children and families at the hospital and offering up a little holiday cheer. Making time to deliver presents and speak with the kids, he was able to make their day a little bit brighter.

From the time he arrived in St. Louis, Cody has focused on helping youth in St. Louis through a number of different events and initiatives. With his rookie class he attended the Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK) bowling event, and also helped out at the annual playground build at Washington Elementary with fellow players and the Rams front office.

In September, Cody attended the Make-A-Wish Celebrity Server Dinner. During the event he competed with his teammates as he collected tip donations by signing autographs and taking photos with guests. By the end of the evening, Cody had helped the Rams to raise enough money to fund 56 wishes for local children facing life-threatening diseases.

Cody also took some time earlier this fall to visit the winners of the American Red Cross High School Blood Drive Challenge at Belleville Township High School East in Belleville, Illinois. There he presented the award and spoke about the importance of service.  Cody also lent his time to the Red Cross as part of their Holiday Cards for Heroes drive. Along with the fellow player Barrett Jones, Rampage and Rams front office staff, Cody visited Long Elementary School to help students write holiday cards for active military members and veterans.
