Game Preview: Rams, Panthers Square Off In Charlotte

Posted Oct 16, 2013

The St. Louis Rams aim for a third-consecutive victory as they travel to Charlotte Sunday to face the Carolina Panthers.

Sunday’s contest will be the 19th meeting between the Rams and Panthers, who were division rivals in the old NFC West from 1995 until NFL realignment in 2002. The Rams visit Carolina this week for the first time since 2006. St. Louis won the last meeting, a 20-10 contest in 2010 that was played at the Edward Jones Dome.

This week’s game will match a pair of former first overall draft picks at quarterback. For the Rams, Sam Bradford set NFL rookie records for completions and yards in
2010, only to see Cam Newton break them a year later.

Bradford has had a hot hand of late. He’s thrown three touchdown passes in each of the Rams’ last two contests and is tied for fourth in the NFL with 13 scoring strikes this season.
