Game Preview: Rams Visit San Francisco for NFC West Showdown

Posted Nov 30, 2013

The St. Louis Rams will vie for their third-consecutive win Sunday as they travel to San Francisco to face the defending NFC Champion 49ers at Candlestick Park. Starting Sunday, the Rams will play three of their final five games against NFC West opponents. All three of those divisional games will take place on the road.

The Rams and 49ers have met twice annually since 1950, and the all-time series is dead even heading into Sunday’s 128th regular-season meeting between the clubs (67-67-3). The 49ers won a Week 4 contest in St. Louis earlier this season, while the Rams were 1-0-1 against San Francisco last season. In the Rams’ last visit to Candlestick Park, the contest resulted in a tie.

The Rams’ recent success has come in large part to their ability to run the football and create turnovers. St. Louis was 3 in turnover ratio last week and is 8 on the season. The Rams rushed for a season-high 258 yards in last week’s win over Chicago, led by rookie Benny Cunningham’s 109 yards.
