Read about safety Mark Barron's recent turkey giveaway in his hometown of Prichard, Alabama.

Although St. Louis Rams’ Mark Barron was in Baltimore for their game against the Ravens on Sunday, he wanted to make sure the people in his hometown knew that he cared. On Sunday, November 22, 2015, Barron teamed up with the nonprofit TAP (organization founded by Barron’s former Alabama teammate Chris Rogers) and gave away 1,000 turkeys to the citizens of Prichard AL. In addition to the turkeys, Barron gave out autographed footballs and $500 in gift cards. There was also free food, bounce houses for the kids and a live DJ.

Barron was represented at the giveaway by his family. When speaking with the media, his mom Ms. Barron had this to say, “We have to think back to when they [Mark Barron & siblings] were kids and when I was child, there was a lot that we didn’t have. It’s now a privilege to be able to give back to the community”.

On being able to give back on this level, Mark Barron said “There’s no greater feeling that knowing you’re able to provide 1,000 families with a turkey for Thanksgiving. I look forward to making this an annual event in the City of Prichard.”

The turkey giveaway marked the first event of this magnitude in the area.
