Postgame Notes: Rams at Cleveland (8/8/13)

-         The St. Louis Rams fall to the Cleveland Browns, 19-27, in the 2013 preseason opener. The preseason series between the Rams and the Browns moves to 14-13-1, with St. Louis continuing to hold a one game advantage.

-          QB Sam Bradford played in the first three drives of the game and completed five-of-eight passes for 102 yards and one touchdown for a 145.8 quarterback rating.

-          Together, the Rams’ first-team offense put together a five play, 83-yard touchdown drive that ate up 2:50 of the play clock.

-          WR Chris Givens hauled in a 59-yard reception from Bradford and a three-yard touchdown reception on the third drive of the game. Givens led the receiving corps in receptions (3) and receiving yards (82) for a 27.3-yard average. He finished the 2012 season with five 50-plus yard receptions and a 16.6-yard average.

-          K Greg Zuerlein converted both 50-plus yard field goal attempts on the day. The first kick going for 54 yards and the second for 55 yards.

-          P Johnny Hekker punted three times for 167 yards. Hekker averaged 55.7 yards and a 19.0 net average. He placed one punt inside the 20-yard line.

-          QB Austin Davis threw for 96 yards, completing nine-of-16 passes for a quarterback rating of 74 percent.

-          QB Kellen Clemens threw for 116 yards, completing six-of-13 passes, including a 53-yard touchdown pass.

-          The combined play of the quarterbacks came to 314 passing yards on 20 completions. The receptions were passed around to 11 targets (five receivers, three running backs and three tight ends).

-          The rushing attack was also spread out among six backs with Daryl Richardson leading the way with four rushes for 24 yards, including a long of 12 yards.

-          DE Eugene Sims registered one sack on QB Jason Campbell for a loss of 11 yards.

-          Rookie T.J. McDonald led the team in tackles with five (four solo), according to press box statistics.

-          RB Isaiah Pead also saw action on special teams, returning two kickoffs for 43 yards, a 21.5-yard average and a long of 25 yards. Rookie RB Benny Cunningham also returned one kickoff for 36 yards.

-          In their preseason debut, rookies LB Alec Ogletree, McDonald and WR Tavon Austin each earned a spot in the starting lineup.

-          According to press box statistics, 89 players saw action with QB Tim Jenkins the one exception.
