Rams Exercise Fifth-Year Option on Robert Quinn

The St. Louis Rams have exercised the fifth-year option in Robert Quinn's contract.

The Rams have executed the fifth-year option in the contract of DE Robert Quinn, the team announced Monday. Quinn is now under contract through the 2015 season.

Quinn was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft. Last season, he earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl and was also a First-Team All-Pro selection after recording a Rams-record 19.0 sacks. His 29.5 combined sacks in the last two seasons give Quinn the second-highest total in the NFL over that time period, trailing only 2011 draft classmate J.J. Watt.

As part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement reached by the NFL and the NFL Players Association in 2011, contracts for all first-round draft picks are four-year deals with a fifth-year option for the team. That option must be picked up following the player's third year. The deadline to exercise the option on 2011 first-round picks was this Saturday (May 3).
