Rams Sign Wide Receivers Hill, Richards

The Rams have added two wide receivers Austin Hill and David Richards to their roster, both of whom played at Arizona.

As head coach Jeff Fisher said the club would do following the release of Deon Long, the Rams have signed a pair of wide receivers to compete — Austin Hill and David Richards. Both wideouts played their college ball at Arizona.

Hill — son of former L.A. Rams tight end David Hill and nephew of Rams broadcast partner CBS 2 Sports Director Jim Hill — appeared to be on track to become a high draft pick before tearing his ACL the spring before his junior season in 2013. Following the injury, Hill played more of a hybrid tight end/wide receiver role as a senior, making 49 receptions for 635 yards and four touchdowns.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, Hill spent time in 2015 with the Raiders, Jets, and Patriots. He recently signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL for a short stint in June, but was released by the club in final cuts.

In Richards’ four years at Arizona, he caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and 11 touchdowns — including 42 receptions for 647 yards and six TDs as a senior in 2015. He initially signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent in May, but also spent time with the Browns this offseason.

With Hill and Richards, the Rams’ roster now stands at 87 players.
