Wake Up Sprinting: Pads for the Public

Posted Jul 29, 2014

Here's the latest on today's open practice, an update on yesterday's special teams workout and #RamsFanFest this Saturday.

Good morning, Rams fans.

The Rams are set to take the field for their first open practice with pads at 3:30 p.m. today! Based on the results of yesterday's padded special teams practice, you're in for a treat. For those with kids 14 and under, take note as quarterbacks and tight ends will sign autographs for 15 minutes after practice.

Last year, Daren Bates and Ray Ray Armstrong made an immediate impact in the first special teams practice which ultimately led to spots on the final roster. Special Teams Coordinator John Fassel took to the mic to discuss which players stood out at yesterday’s workout.

Players who thrive on those make-or-break competitions know how to use special teams to their advantage. One of those guys is Ray Ray Armstrong. Click here for my one-on-one with the "Boom King" following yesterday's practice. And when it comes to special teams, you can’t leave out kicker Greg “The Leg” Zuerlein … so I didn’t. Here’s my 1-on-1 with that guy you saw kick a 60-yarder into a basketball goal on Dude Perfect.

While Week One may seem far away, you have a chance to watch the full squad scrimmage on the Edward Jones Dome turf in just four days at #RamsFanFest! Gates open for season ticket members at 9:30 a.m., and if you register here you can join the fun at 10:30 a.m., one hour and a half before the general public.  During that time, you can attend panels featuring COO/EVP of Football Operations Kevin Demoff and General Manager Les Snead, taste test St. Louis' best burgers, roam the field and more. The team will take the field for practice at 12:30 p.m., including plenty of seven-on-seven drills. Trust me. You don't want to miss this awesome event!

That is all for today and I hope to see you at Rams Park this afternoon.
