Wake Up Sprinting: Penultimate Practice

Posted Aug 19, 2014

Casey Phillips has the latest on today's practice, Ethan Westbrooks journey to the NFL, new additions at the Edward Jones Dome and much more.

Good morning, Rams fam.

The next two days of Training Camp are your last chance to come out and see the 2014 squad up close and personal before the season kicks off against the Minnesota Vikings at the Edward Jones Dome on September 7th. Gates open at 2:00 p.m. today for a 3:30 p.m. workout.

One player to watch when you come out to practice is Ethan Westbrooks. Myles Simmons wrote about how the rookie with an unassuming collegiate background is trying to secure a roster spot. I also caught up with Westbrooks this weekend for an informative one-on-one interview.

Speaking of Rams home games, they just got a little more delicious. In case you have not heard, there will be Sugarfire Smoke House BBQ available at the Edward Jones Dome this season. I wanted to make sure you knew so you could get some, but even more so you would understand why I have BBQ sauce all over my face while appearing on the videoboard.

The Rams special teams unit of Johnny Hekker, Greg Zuerlein, and Jake McQuaide is incredibly solid on the field, and incredibly close off of it. To show you a little of the ridiculousness that happens within that unit, Hekker interviewed McQuaide in rapid fire style for our radio show #WhatTheHekk Wednesdays on 101 ESPN. Jorts are mentioned in the interview (as if you needed more motivation to watch).
