Posted Dec 3, 2015

The St. Louis Rams have announced running back Chase Reynolds as the team’s Community Player of the Week for Week 13.

The St. Louis Rams have announced running back Chase Reynolds as the team’s Community Player of the Week for week 13.

“It feels good to be the Community Player of the Week,” Reynolds said. “You want to be known for what you do in the community. You get to see people every week be named the Community Player of the Week and for me to be able to get it, I’m honored.”

This season, Reynolds has served as the Rams ambassador for Basket of Hope, a non-profit that seeks to deliver hope to children diagnosed with cancer and other serious illnesses through the delivery of “Baskets of Hope” filled with toys, games, craft items, stuffed animals, gift cards and other items. This week, Reynolds recruited fellow running backs Zach Laskey and Tre Mason to join him to deliver 50 baskets to patients at Shriners Hospital for Children – St. Louis.

“I really like the idea behind Basket of Hope,” Reynolds said. “Anytime you get around Christmas and you get to see kids and just put a smile on their face, the whole time of year of giving is special to me.”

Reynolds also participated in the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Thanksgiving Distribution. The week before the holiday, Reynolds and more than 20 more of his teammates distributed turkeys and other Thanksgiving trimmings to community members in need. In total, more than 2,000 local families were impacted.

“The Urban League Turkey Distribution is always a good time, handing out turkeys around Thanksgiving,” Reynolds said. “Being with the offensive line was cool. We had quite a few of guys there, and we handed out a lot of turkeys.”

Reynolds has also contributed to signature Rams community outreach events such as the Breast Cancer Survivor Reception with the American Cancer Society, Coach Fisher & Friends Celebrity Softball game and Make-A-Wish Missouri “Night of Wishes.” He has also participated in other community outreach efforts including the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign, PLAY 60 events, Best Buddies Friendship Walk and Special Olympics Pass, Punt and Kick competition.
