Posted Oct 13, 2016

Each week, the Rams select a player to honor as the Rams Community Player of the Week. The program, presented by Wells Fargo, is intended to recognize players for the positive impact they make off the field.

The Los Angeles Rams announced Tyler Higbee as the Rams Community Player of the Week for week 4 in recognition of his community outreach efforts throughout the season.

Higbee is a rookie tight end from Clearwater, FL. And was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. Since arriving in LA, Higbee has begun to emerge as a community leader off the field. Higbee enjoys getting out and getting involved. Whether it’s PLAY 60 engagement with youth, military outreach or other charitable efforts, Higbee appreciates the opportunity he has to better the community. This week, Higbee has volunteered with Pros vs. GI Joes where he and some of his teammates will have the opportunity to interact with troops serving overseas and play video games with them.

Q & A with Tyler Higbee

How does it feel to be Community Player of the Week?
Well this is my first time experiencing this, but it’s very cool. I feel honored.

Why is it important to become involved and make a name for yourself in the Greater LA Area?
Especially with the team being new out here in LA, I think it’s important for us to get involved in the community and use our platform that we have. People look up to us and it’s cool getting out and giving back.

What event has been your favorite so far?
I thought the Make-A-Wish event was very cool. I had fun hanging out with the Wish kids and hearing their stories about what they’ve been through and having the opportunity to raise money to make other kids’ wishes come true.

Growing up who did you look up to?
Growing up and playing sports, pro-athletes were my role models. I had role models as coaches growing up, as well as father figures and parent figures in my life. Now that I’m in this position, I enjoy the fact that I can be there for somebody else.
