Red Cross: Blood Donations and Food Distribution 

 The Red Cross now faces a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during this coronavirus outbreak. Healthy individuals are urged to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood.

The Red Cross is also partnering with the LA County Office of Emergency Management and the Los Angeles Unified School District to feed students and families affected by school closures due to the coronavirus. 

The American Red Cross Los Angeles Region is providing volunteers to support food distribution to more than 700,000 students in Los Angeles Unified School District, the nation's second largest school district.   

What you need to know: 

  • The meal distribution centers will be open at 60 school sites starting Wednesday, March 18 
  • The centers are open from 7 to 10 a.m. on weekdays (M-F) to provide meal distribution

  • FYI: You don't have to be a current Red Cross volunteer to help
