First Look: Rams head to Nashville for Week 2 road matchup with Titans

Coming off a season-opening victory over the Texans, the Rams continue the AFC South portion of their schedule with a Week 2 road game against the Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. (10 a.m. PT, CBS/Paramount+).

Ahead of the contest, here is your First Look at Rams-Titans.

Notable Titans additions

  • Selected former Miami (Fla.) quarterback Cam Ward No. 1 overall in this year's draft. Well-regarded for his quick release and ability to make plays out of structure, Ward had what was widely regarded as a promising NFL debut last Sunday against the Broncos.
  • Signed veteran kicker Joey Slye to a one-year deal in March. Tennessee chose to move on from 40-year-old Nick Folk and not retain him for a third season, choosing the former Panthers and Patriots kicker Slye instead.

Top performers in Week 1

Ward completed 12 of 28 passes for 112 yards in the Titans' 20-12 road loss to the Broncos.

Running back Tony Pollard led Tennessee's backfield with 18 carries for 60 yards.

Wide receiver Calvin Ridley was Ward's top target with four catches on eight targets for 27 yards.

Defensive tackle Justin Simmons had four total tackles, one sack and four QB hits for Tennessee's defense.

On special teams, Slye made all four of his field goal attempts (long of 50), while punter Johnny Hekker averaged 49.4 yards per punt across eight punts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

Both teams will likely look back on their Week 1 results and see many learning opportunities from them.

Avoiding self-inflicted mistakes are central to that for both teams – penalties cost the Rams explosive plays on offense and special teams last week, while the Titans squandered opportunities that could have led to an upset over a favored Broncos team in Denver.

It's only natural for any team to feel as though their best football is still ahead of them after playing just one game, but both teams figure to carry that feeling into Sunday's game based on how they felt coming out of their season-openers.

Health on the offensive line bears watching, too, as the Titans await clarity on a hip injury starting right tackle J.C. Latham has been dealing with and the Rams determine the statuses of starting offensive guards Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson for Sunday, especially with the talent on the defensive fronts of both groups.
