WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Joint practices serve the valuable opportunities for reps for the Rams' starters ahead of the regular season since they do not play in preseason games. So, it makes sense that when Wednesday's with the Chargers was canceled due to the Chargers' injury situation, the team would seek out a replacement opportunity.
To that end, head coach Sean McVay on Sunday said the team is working to finalize a joint practice with the Saints for this Thursday.
"Had some good conversations with (Saints head coach) Kellen Moore after our game last night, spoke with him this morning, they're obviously getting ready to play right now," McVay said. "And so I am hopeful that we'll be able to get something coordinated with them on Thursday. It's looking like that's more likely than not that we'll be able to do that. And then I'll have some more specifics for you guys tomorrow, once we finalize those plans."
McVay said the Rams and the Saints are looking at Carson as the location for that joint practice, given it would take two hours for one team to travel to the other. Carson is centrally located enough that it would take roughly an hour for each team to get there.
