Top Takeaways from Sean McVay's first presser of 2025 OTAs: First impressions of Davante Adams from spring workouts, latest on Jalen Ramsey, and more

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay met with local media Wednesday after the Rams conducted their first Organized Team Activity workout of this year's offseason program, discussing what he's seen from wide receiver Davante Adams so far this spring and where things stand with a potential trade for cornerback Jalen Ramsey, among other key topics.

More on those Top Takeaways below:

1. Adams' "willingness to share," attention to detail and leadership standing out

Going into Year 12 of his NFL career, Adams' body of work speaks for itself. The way he has been carrying himself in his short time in Los Angeles has stood out, too.

"I think the first thing I've been really impressed with his willingness to share," McVay said. "His openness and his refreshing humility in terms of being coached, but then being able to offer his insight. It's fun to be able to listen to he and Matthew (Stafford) have a dialogue of their accumulated experiences and getting on the same page for how they want to be able to do things."

McVay added that Adams has been great in meetings and "incredibly detail-oriented."

"You can see how smart he is," McVay said. "There's a couple things that are new in terms of the vernacular, but a lot of this stuff is same-as or maybe just a couple subtle tweaks. But his ability to be able learn, his ability to be able to listen and then ultimately lead, has been a big factor."

2. No update on potential acquisition of Ramsey from Dolphins

While the Rams "certainly haven't closed the door" on a potential Ramsey reunion, McVay said "there really hasn't been any meaningful, tangible dialogue as of late," and that there is "not a whole lot that I have to offer" regarding potentially acquiring Ramsey in a trade with the Dolphins.

"And so we'll see if that changes," McVay said. "But these things can happen quickly, but it's really kind of the same as what it was a couple weeks ago."

Asked if the Rams would still add at cornerback anyway if they couldn't get Ramsey, McVay said he feels good about where the secondary is.

3. First impressions of rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson

Today was the first day of 11-on-11 work this spring, and receivers and tight ends are running routes on air, so it's a small sample size of observations on this year's rookie class for the Rams' coaching staff. Still, McVay is happy with Ferguson's work ethic on and off the practice field so far.

"Seen a guy that's been real attentive in meetings, got a really good feel – you know, really, it's routes on air," McVay said. "And then what we saw today, which is a limited body of work. But just been really impressed with him, and really the rookie class as a whole. Our vets have done a good job welcoming these guys with open arms. But, looking forward to seeing him just continue to take it a step at a time. Scooter (Scott) Huff does a great job with our tight ends, and so, so far so good."
