2016 SEASON: Started in six-of-16 games in his rookie campaign...hauled in 11 receptions for 85 yards and scored his first career touchdown...at San Francisco (9/13): In his first career NFL game, recorded one reception...at Tampa Bay (9/25): Made first career NFL start at tight end...saw significant action on special teams...at Arizona (10/2): Saw action at tight end and recorded one reception...vs. New York Giants (10/23): Recorded one catch for a four-yard gain...vs. Carolina (11/6): Made second career start at tight end...recorded a career-long 31-yard reception...at New England (12/4): Recorded two catches for 16 yards...vs. Atlanta (12/11): Caught one pass for eight yards...at Seattle (12/15): Hauled in a 15-yard reception...vs. San Francisco (12/26): Recorded two receptions for five yards...scored his first career touchown on a two-yard pass from QB Jared Goff.

He finished his career with over 1,100 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns. Higbee earned first-team All-County honors as well as being a Pinellas County All-Star his senior year. He was rated as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com after lettering all four years in football. He also earned a pair of letters on the baseball diamond at the varsity level.
