Los Angeles narrowly defeated Green Bay on Sunday, 29-27. Here's a look at the Rams' snap counts from all three phases.
OFFENSE
— Los Angeles had six players on the field for each of the 78 offensive snaps in the starting offensive line and quarterback Jared Goff.
— Wide receivers Robert Woods (76 snaps/97 percent) and Brandin Cooks (75 snaps/96 percent) were next on the list. Woods had five receptions for 70 yards, and Cooks had three for 74, plus a pair of carries for nine yards.
— At running back, Todd Gurley played 70 snaps (90 percent), with Malcolm Brown on the field for nine snaps (12 percent). That's a week after the playing time between the two backs finished pretty even with Los Angeles' margin of victory at San Francisco. Gurley finished with 195 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in the win.
— For tight ends, Tyler Higbee played the majority of the game with 62 reps (79 percent). Gerald Everett was on eat field for 17 snaps (22 percent). He made one catch for 22 yards. Everett had another reception wiped out by penalty.
DEFENSE
— Three players were eon the field for each of Los Angeles' 52 defensive snaps: inside linebacker Cory Littleton, safety John Johnson, and cornerback Marcus Peters. Safety Lamarcus Joyner was next on the list at 50 snaps (96 percent).
— The Rams' three starting defensive lineman of Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers, and Ndamukong Suh were all on the field for at least 90 percent of the plays. Donald and Brockers each played 48 snaps (92 percent) and Suh played one fewer at 47 (90 percent). Combined, they had five quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks. It makes Donald's stat line from Week 7 (4.0 sacks, six tackles for loss, five QB hits) that much more impressive.
— At cornerback, Troy Hill (36 snaps/69 percent) and Sam Shields (14 snaps/27 percent) split time once again. And slot cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman played much more in Week 8 (32 snaps/62 percent) than in Week 7, in large part because of the difference in personnel groupings. Green Bay runs a lot more three wideout sets than San Francisco, which employs more two-back sets with fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
— Active for the first time this season, defensive lineman Tanzel Smart played five snaps (10 percent). Reserve lineman Ethan Westbrooks also played four snaps (eight percent).
SPECIAL TEAMS
— Safety Marqui Christian, linebacker Bryce Hager, and cornerback Dominique Hatfield led the way with 31 special teams snaps (91 percent). Safety/kick returner Blake Countess was No. 2 in special teams snaps with 30 (88 percent).
— Punter Johnny Hekker had the most work he's had all year on Sunday, punting seven times with three kicks being downed inside the 20-yard line. Hekker's net average was 43.3 yards.
