First Look: Rams head to Santa Clara for Week 10 road game at 49ers

Riding a three-game win streak, the Rams will look to keep that momentum going approaching a Week 10 showdown against divisional rival San Francisco at Levi's Stadium. Kickoff against the 49ers in Santa Clara is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. pacific time on FOX.

In advance of the contest, here is your First Look at Rams-49ers, presented by Amazon Music.

Notable 49ers additions

  • Acquired defensive lineman Keion White in a trade with the Patriots on Oct. 28. The 49ers already were in need of pass rush help with defensive end Nick Bosa out for the year, and that need only grew after head coach Kyle Shanahan told San Francisco reporters the team feared 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams, another defensive end, suffered a torn ACL against the New York Giants on Sunday. White played 58.9% of the 49ers' defensive snaps Sunday, and that will only increase if tests confirm Williams' injury.
  • Signed veteran defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell to their practice squad on Oct. 28. Another move to bolster a defensive front impacted by injuries, Ferrell was elevated and active for Sunday's game against the Giants, recording three total tackles (one for loss) and one sack while playing 32% of the team's defensive snaps.

Top performers in Week 9

Quarterback Mac Jones completed 19 of 24 pass attempts for 235 yards and two touchdowns in San Francisco's 34-24 road win over the Giants.

Running back Christian McCaffrey was responsible for a significant portion of the 49ers' offense with 28 carries for 106 yards and one touchdown, plus a team-high five receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Linebacker Tatum Bethune led San Francisco's defense with 16 total tackles.

On special teams, kicker Eddie Pineiro made both of his field goal attempts and all four of his extra point attempts, while punter Thomas Morstead averaged 43.5 yards per punt across two punts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

The 6-2 Rams are second in the once-again-competitive NFC West, and the 6-3 49ers are not far behind them in those division standings. Los Angeles could use a division win, so Sunday presents an opportunity not only for that, but to keep pace in arguably the tightest division race in the NFL right now.

Beyond that, the health of each team bears watching for its impact on this game.

Tight end Tyler Higbee and offensive lineman Rob Havenstein were inactive for the first meeting in Week 5, and we saw this past Sunday the difference it makes when both players are in the starting lineup for Los Angeles. As noted earlier in this piece, the 49ers' defense has been hit hard by injuries – notably losing inside linebacker Fred Warner to a season-ending ankle injury in Week 6 – and has likewise seen its pass rush depleted for the same reason.

Still, that is no reason to take San Francisco lightly – especially after how its short-handed offense performed five weeks ago. While these teams have almost identical records, they are in different places personnel-wise than they were in early October.
