Halftime Notes: Rams Starters Resting, 49ers Lead 20-6

LOS ANGELES — With the Rams resting many of their starters, the 49ers lead the home team 20-6 after the first two quarters. Here are a couple notes from the action.

PETERSON PICK

Down 10-0, the Rams' defense got off the field with an interception by cornerback Kevin Peterson.

With quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo already in rhythm midway through the first quarter, Peterson stepped in front of wide receiver Marquise Goodwin on a route over the middle and picked off Garoppolo's pass. Peterson returned the interception to the San Francisco 22-yard line for strong field position.

Kicker Sam Ficken nailed a 23-yard field goal to give the Rams their first points of the day, capitalizing on the turnover.

Peterson had another interception toward the end of the first half that helped put L.A. in position for another field goal to cut the deficit to 20-6.

JIMMY G LOOKS THE PART

The 49ers have won each of the four games Garoppolo has started this season and so far it's fairly easy to see why. The quarterback hit five different receivers for 114 yards in the first quarter, leading the Niners to a pair of scoring drives.

INJURY UPDATES

The Rams have had a pair of players leave the field due to injury. Wide receiver Mike Thomas left with an ankle injury, but returned to the game before the end of the half. Cornerback Troy Hill and defneisve back Blake Countess were both announced as being evaluated for a concussion.
