Rams & Bank of America Empower individuals with challenging pasts through paid fellowship program

The Los Angeles Rams and Bank of America teamed up with LA-based nonprofit The RightWay Foundation to provide two young women — identified by nonprofit partner, Brotherhood Crusade — with paid fellowship experiences during the 2024 NFL season and an opportunity to create a foundation for a bright future.

The Los Angeles Rams and Bank of America Fellowship Program provides six months of paid hands-on working experiences, from October through March, across various Rams' departments including Community Impact and Engagement, Football Operations, Marketing and Brand Strategy, Partnership Management and Sales, Ticketing, Rams Studios and more. To conclude the experience, the fellows presented a final project showcasing their experience in each department, highlighting the transferrable skills they learned throughout the fellowship.

The Rams released two short films titled "From Struggle to Strength" and "Rebuilding Hope" produced by Rams Studios, showcasing the experiences of the most recent fellows Amber Flores and Aiyana Lopez-Spears. The two-minute short films share their stories of how overcoming challenges has empowered them to dream big.

  • Amber Flores, 18, was born and raised in Los Angeles. She faced housing insecurity, and trauma challenges that at times made it hard to imagine graduating from high school. But with determination, support from her high school counselor, and guidance from the Brotherhood Crusade, Flores persevered. She took on more responsibilities, stayed involved in a range of extracurricular activities, and graduated from Inglewood High School with honors. Today, Flores is pursuing post-secondary education and was recently hired as a relationship banker with Bank of America. Passionate about giving back, Flores is involved in ministry and has dedicated herself to assisting individuals who have experienced similar life challenges.
  • Aiyana Lopez-Spears, 22, was born and raised in Los Angeles. Lopez-Spears has dedicated much of her time to being an after-school youth leader and assisting young people as they transition into adulthood. She prides herself in supporting at-risk youth from diverse backgrounds to create inclusive and supportive environments. She graduated from Crenshaw High School in 2020 and has worked with Brotherhood Crusade, Beyond the Bell and Los Angeles Parks and Recreation.

The Fellowship Program was created in 2021 and is designed to support young adults from under-resourced communities by providing access to mentorship and workforce experience to develop critical job skills, a professional network and career pathways. Bank of America's funding not only provides monthly stipends to the fellows but also helps to subsidize the costs of transportation and housing and provides financial education coaches for each fellow. Fellows have been recommended by various local nonprofits, including Anti-Recidivism Coalition, Brotherhood Crusade, Measure of Hearts Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles.

"The Rams are committed to providing access and opportunity for young people who have been disproportionality impacted by social inequities," said Los Angeles Rams Executive Vice President of Community Impact and Engagement Molly Higgins. "Our partnership with Bank of America is a tangible example of that commitment. We hope Amber and Aiyana's films showcase that progress comes in many forms and that together we can inspire positive change."

"Bank of America believes that we're better when we're connected. That's why we look to connect hard-working teens and young adults to opportunities with our community partners – in this case the LA Rams, an incredible legacy organization – to develop critical job skills on their early career path. It's one way we can help create a lasting impact," said Raul Anaya, Los Angeles president, Bank of America.

This season, the Rams also partnered with the RightWay Foundation to provide comprehensive support services, including housing, mentorship, and skill-building programs. Through various initiatives, RightWay offers mental health services, job readiness training, and financial coaching.

The Los Angeles Rams and Bank of America Fellowship Program is one of the Rams' programs aimed at inspiring change with a focus on providing access and opportunity and driving equity. Through various initiatives, the Rams also work to address issues of poverty that disproportionately impact communities of color including education inequities, housing and food insecurities, youth mentorship and community-police relations.

As part of its ongoing commitment to youth employment, Bank of America has funded tens of thousands of summer jobs and paid internships since 2011 for teens and young adults across the country.
