Meet Dr. Bright

Dr. Tiffani Bright helps lead research at Cedars-Sinai that uses artificial intelligence to make healthcare smarter and fairer for everyone. She studies how technology can help doctors and patients make better decisions, and how to make sure those tools work equally well for all communities.

Her work blends science, data, and compassion. Every day, she brings people and ideas together to solve complex problems in new ways, connecting fields that might not normally meet.

Path After High School

Dr. Bright's first step after high school was the College of William and Mary, where she learned to think critically and ask thoughtful questions. That foundation helped her learn how to solve problems by looking at them from many sides.

Later, she made a bold decision: she earned a second bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She had studied sociology first but realized her childhood dream of becoming a scientist was still calling. Starting over took courage, but she says it was one of the best choices she ever made because now, her background in sociology helps her connect science with people.

STEAM in Action

Dr. Bright's work brings science, technology, and math together every day. She uses science to study how AI can help doctors make decisions, technology to build computer models that predict and improve outcomes, and math to measure fairness in those systems.

Her goal is simple but powerful: to make sure technology serves everyone, not just some. For students, that means remembering that STEAM is not only about machines and numbers, it is also about people, empathy, and making the world better.

The Best Part of Dr. Bright's Job

Dr. Bright says her favorite part of working at Cedars-Sinai is being part of a mission that helps people. She is surrounded by others who want to use science to make life healthier and more fair. Every project reminds her that her work makes a real difference in the lives of patients and families.

Dr. Bright's Advice for Students

"Don't be afraid to start over or choose a different path if your heart guides you. Your journey doesn't have to be a straight line to succeed. Keep learning, stay curious, and follow the dreams that excite you, even if they take time."

Take a moment to think about something you've always wanted to learn or try. How could you take one small step toward it this year: a new class, a club, or a conversation with someone who works in that field?
