Rams re-sign TE Tyler Higbee to two-year deal

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – The Rams have re-signed tight end Tyler Higbee to a two-year deal.

The move prevents Higbee from reaching the open market, as he was a pending unrestricted free agent. Returning for his 11th season with the Rams makes him the longest-tenured player on the team.

Higbee, 33, is the all-time franchise leader for receptions (386), receiving yards (3,949) and receiving touchdowns (27) by a tight end. He posted 25 receptions for 281 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games (eight starts) last season, missing one game (Week 5 vs. 49ers) with a hip injury and six games (Weeks 12-17) with an ankle injury.

"His energy and the way he cares about his teammates," said quarterback Matthew Stafford, when asked in late December what he appreciates about Higbee the most on the field. "He's the ultimate team player. I've loved every minute I've had playing football with Higs. He's a special football player and has made so many great plays that I can remember off the top of my head. It's just the human being too. The human being that celebrates for everybody. He has great celebrations himself. He's great around the building. He's just an awesome teammate. He's what you want. Everybody calls him a glue guy, probably an understatement. He's an unbelievable player and a great person for our team and we're happy to have him back out there moving around again and feeling like himself. I'm happy for the human being."

A Super Bowl LVI champion, he originally joined the team as a fourth-round draft pick (110th overall) out of Western Kentucky in 2016.

His return means the Rams return all of their four primary tight ends from last season in Higbee, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson.
