Rams re-sign S Kam Curl to three-year deal

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – The Rams have re-signed safety Kam Curl to a three-year contract.

Curl was the Rams' second-leading tackler last season, and his 122 total tackles were the second-most among all NFL defensive backs. He also caught two interceptions in the regular season and one clutch pick in the playoffs that helped the Rams get past the Bears in overtime of the divisional round.

Curl moved around the formation frequently last year, taking 58.6% of his snaps at free safety, 26.3% in the box and 10.3% in the slot, according to Pro Football Focus.

He also took on a larger leadership role during safety Quentin Lake's absence due to injury, which included pep-talk duties.

"He's a quieter guy, but I think he's a guy that, when he talks, people are listening," said defensive coordinator Chris Shula. "He has the respect of the whole defense and it starts with his play on the field, his play in practice and his preparation."

The Rams' safety room now consists of Curl, Lake, Kam Kinchens and Jaylen McCollough.
