ESPN Names Woods, Whitworth as Two of the Top Free Agent Signings

When the Rams hired Sean McVay last year, one of the first goals on the head coach's to-do list was to revamp the offense.

Last offseason, McVay and general manager Les Snead turned over much of the team's offensive personnel — successfully utilizing free agency and the draft to revitalize the unit.

In all, the team brought in eight new starters in the offseason, each of whom contributed to the Rams' 11-5 record and 2017 NFC West title.

While all eight impacted the team's success this season, there were two standouts from the club's 2017 free-agent signings: left tackle Andrew Whitworth and wide receiver Robert Woods. On Tuesday, the duo was named

The offensive line was one of the Rams' main areas for improvement and the addition of Whitworth played a significant role in the development of the unit as a whole. Not only did he help to solidify the line in front of quarterback Jared Goff, but he also served as a strong team leader. He was voted a captain for the 2017 season.

Through 16 games, Goff was sacked just 25 times — marking a huge improvement from his rookie season, where he was sacked 26 times in seven games.

Woods returned to his hometown of Los Angeles this year and became of the team's most productive receivers. The former USC standout made an immediate impact as both a possession receiver and a vertical threat downfield. Even after being sidelined for several weeks with a shoulder injury, Woods still finished the year with a career high 781 yards receiving, with 56 receptions and five touchdowns.
