Gurley Named December's NFC Offensive Player of the Month

Running back Todd Gurley was outstanding down the stretch for Los Angeles and now he's been rewarded for his performances.

Though he played in only four of the Rams' five games in December, Gurley has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month. It's the second time the Georgia product has received the honor this season, having won it for September as well.

He's only the second player in franchise history to win multiple Offensive Player of the Month awards in the same season. Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk accomplished the feat twice, in 2000 and 2001.

Gurley accounted for 749 yards from scrimmage — 440 yards rushing, 309 yards receiving — and eight touchdowns in the month of December. In three of the four games Los Angeles played, Gurley recorded at least 150 yards from scrimmage. He took 21 carries for 152 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns in the Rams' 42-7 victory over the Seahawks in Seattle.

Then a week later, Gurley became only the third player in NFL history to have at least 100 yards rushing and 150 yards receiving in the same game as Los Angeles clinched the NFC West with its victory over the Titans. In that game, Gurley rushed for 118 yards and caught 10 passes for 158 yards — including an electrifying 80-yard touchdown on a screen pass.

Gurley was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performances against both the Seahawks and Titans in December. He was also named NFC Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season for his Week 4 performance against the Cowboys.

The running back finished the season leading the league in yards from scrimmage (2,093), total touchdowns (19), and rushing touchdowns (13). He also finished No. 2 with 1,305 yards rushing.
