The Rams have added a third quarterback, claiming Brandon Allen off waivers from the Jaguars.

Jacksonville selected Allen in the sixth round of the 2016 draft. He was the third-string quarterback behind Blake Bortles and Chad Henne in his rookie season. This preseason, Allen was 38-of-58 passing for 516 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

A three-year starter at Arkansas, Allen completed 66 percent of his passes for 3,440 yards with 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions as a senior. He finished his collegiate career with 7,463 yards passing with 64 touchdowns and 26 interceptions.

Current Rams quarterbacks coach, Greg Olson, was Allen's offensive coordinator last year for the Jaguars. Allen projects as Los Angeles' third quarterback, behind Jared Goff and Sean Mannion.

Los Angeles waived CB Kevin Peterson in corresponding roster move to add Allen to its roster.
