Rams Waive Tight End Johnny Mundt

After he spent two games on the active roster, the Rams have waived tight end Johnny Mundt.

A rookie undrafted free agent out of Oregon, Mundt was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad on Nov. 11 — just prior to the Rams' 33-7 victory over the Texans — to help fill the void left by an injured Derek Carrier.

Carrier was questionable for Sunday's game against Minnesota, and with Mundt being waived, is likely on track to return for the Rams' Week 12 matchup with the Saints.

Mundt played just four offensive snaps over the two games — three against Houston, one against Minnesota — but was a heavy special teams contributor in both matchups. He was on the field for 25 special teams snaps (81 percent) in the victory over the Texans and 14 (61 percent) in the loss to the Vikings.

If he clears waivers, Mundt could be a candidate to return to the Rams on their practice squad.
