NFL Power Rankings: Vikings, Rams Rising via Free Agency/Trades:
The first week of free agency is over and with it the first wave of trades and new player signings has come and gone. And so, in the wake of free agency’s first wave, the NFL’s Elliot Harrison has released his first wave of power rankings.
The reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Eagles, came in at the top of the rankings followed by the Patriots, and Jaguars. The Vikings and Saints rounded out the top five. And after finishing the 2017 season with an 11-5 record and an NFC West division title, the Rams came in ranked at No. 6.
Here’s what Harrison had to say about Los Angeles heading into the offseason:
“Are these guys the best outfit in the NFC? They're not far off. Amazing what GM Les Snead was able to pull off with the secondary, when it appeared a strong 2017 unit was going to be decimated by expiring contracts in 2018. The Rams instead made deals for Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, while surprisingly retaining Nickell Robey-Coleman for palatable dollars. Oh, and the offense is still good. Don't harangue me about the Sammy Watkins departure, either. Not a huge deal. Well, it was costly ... for the Chiefs.”
