Key offseason moves

  • Signed Coleman Shelton: The former Bears offensive lineman signed a one-year deal on March 13. Shelton spent the first five years of his career with the Rams before leaving for Chicago last season and will now return to L.A. in 2025. At 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, Shelton brings a depth of knowledge and experience operating in head coach Sean McVay's offense as well as some agility on the inside. He was signed with the expectation he will be the team's starting center.
  • Traded Jonah Jackson: After signing a three-year deal with the team last offseason, Jackson was injured and later benched midseason in favor of rookie center Beaux Limmer. The team decided to move on from Jackson early this offseason, sending him to Chicago for a 2025 sixth-round pick on March 12.
  • Signed David Quessenberry: The Rams added depth at tackle by signing Quessenberry, a 35-year-old veteran, to a one-year deal on May 29.
  • Signed D.J. Humphries: The Rams added more insurance at tackle by signing Humphries, a former first-round pick in 2015, to a one-year deal on June 13.
  • Tendered Dylan McMahon: The Rams tendered several players to Reserve/Future contracts on January 20, the day after their season ended, including McMahon.

Who's under contract

2024 stats: After serving a two-game suspension to start the season, Jackson started 14 regular season games and both postseason games at left tackle.

2024 stats: Avila started 10 regular season games and both playoff bouts at left guard, missing Weeks 2-9 after sustaining a knee injury in Week 1.

2024 stats: In Chicago, Shelton started all 17 games for the second-straight season.

2024 stats: Dotson started every game apart from Week 18, when most starters rested.

2024 stats: Havenstein started all 11 games he played along with both postseason games, missing time due to a shoulder injury which he had repaired in the offseason.

2024 stats: Limmer was thrown into the fire in Week 1 after Avila went down, and then remained in the lineup as both Avila and Jonah Jackson missed extended time. He started 14 games and played in 16 on offense in regular season, officially earning the starting center job for the season in Week 10, and also started both playoff games.

2024 stats: McClendon filled in at both left and right tackle throughout the season, starting five games on offense and appearing in six. He appeared in 13 games overall, though seven of those games saw snaps exclusively on special teams. McClendon played right tackle exclusively in five of those games.

2024 stats: Arcuri played 51 snaps at left tackle in Week 1, as the Rams dealt with heavy injuries. He did not play another offensive snap after that in 2024.

2024 stats: Dedich started three games at left guard from Weeks 7-9 when both Jonah Jackson and Avila were injured. Apart from that, he played two offensive snaps played in Week 2.

2024 stats: Leveston was injured for much of last season and did not appear in any games.

2024 stats: McMahon's only game action came in Week 18 when he started at center.

2024 stats: Quessenberry started zero games last season for Minnesota, but played 93 snaps at left tackle and 17 at right tackle across four games played on offense. He played in all 17 games including special teams.

2024 stats: Started in two regular season games for the Chiefs last season.

2024 stats: At Utah State, Bowles started all 12 games at left guard, played a team-best 873 snaps and had 27 knockdowns.

2024 stats: Started eight games for North Carolina.

2024 stats: Started all 14 games at left guard for Boise State, earning All-Mountain West First Team honors.

2024 stats: Started all 13 games for Indiana.

What's next

Shelton integrating back into the offense shouldn't take long after just one year removed. General manager Les Snead said earlier this offseason that Shelton was brought in to be the starting center. Havenstein has missed at least three games in each of the past two seasons while Jackson is currently dealing with blood clots, so getting Quessenberry and Humphries up to speed will be high on the priorities list.

Assuming all parties are healthy to start the season, four of the Rams' five starters from last season will return, and another from two years ago whose played with the group before. Continuity along the offensive line served the Rams well last season and they hope it will again in 2025.
