3 Keys to Winning for the Rams against the Texans in Week 1

The Rams will kick off their 2025 season hosting the Texans on Sunday at SoFi Stadium (1:25 p.m. PT, CBS).

Ahead of the contest, here are 3 Keys to Winning for Los Angeles, presented by The Law Offices of Jacob Emrani (CallJacob.com).

1) Limit the impact of defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter

This is certainly a game the Rams will be grateful to have both left tackle Alaric Jackson and right tackle Rob Havenstein available, given the pressure bookend edge rushers Anderson and Hunter consistently generate for the Texans. Giving the quarterback a clean pocket to operate in is imperative every week, but it will especially be this week.

2) Take advantage of a remade Texans offensive line.

Beginning to sense a theme here? You should be. For as much talent as their is at quarterback and the skill positions on both sides of the ball, this game could very well be won or lost at the line of scrimmage.

So for as much as it is about pass protection by Los Angeles' offensive line, the defensive line shares equal responsibility in making Houston's offensive line – which features four new starters, including rookie at left tackle – uncomfortable.

3) Make sound decisions in the passing game

The Texans' 19 interceptions were second-most in the NFL in 2024. This is a ball-hawking, opportunistic Houston secondary led by cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. that isn't afraid to take chances, so it will be important for quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Rams' passing attack to limit those mistakes and play a clean game.
