5 interesting stats from Rams' preseason finale in Cleveland: Defense generates pressure, Terrance Ferguson shows versatility

The Rams' depth pieces did enough to stay competitive against the Browns' starters early on. But as both benches dueled it out late, a walk-off field goal kept L.A. from an undefeated preseason, as Cleveland prevailed 19-17. Still, some standout performances helped L.A. keep it close, and rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson got his first NFL action.

Here are five interesting stats from the preseason finale:

The Rams' defense generated 25 pressures, via Pro Football Focus, their most of the preseason

The Rams progressed from seven pressures in the preseason opener to 18 in Week 2 and then 25 on Saturday, which is exactly the kind of growth that's desired during the preseason. Desjuan Johnson, who usually plays defensive end but lined up at outside linebacker Saturday, led the way with five, while outside linebacker Jamil Muhammad registered four. Three players registered three pressures each, while seven others had one.

Ferguson lined up in the slot 19.0% of the time

The Rams' second-round pick from 2025 was a big storyline in this game, and Ferguson's usage reflected the versatility he brings. Out of his 21 snaps, Ferguson lined up in the slot four times, all of them pass plays. Two of those snaps had him run fade routes, both of which he won versus his defender and on the second he hauled in an impressive catch for 33 yards. Ferguson also ran for 20 yards after the catch, flashing his explosiveness.

Quarterback Dresser Winn delivers career-high 190 preseason passing yards and other personal bests

Despite being waived on Sunday, Winn delivered the best performance of his NFL career on Saturday. In addition to passing yards, Winn also reached career-highs in attempts (23), completions (15), touchdowns (one) and QBR (105.3).

Six Rams defenders registered exactly one sack

Those six sacks combined for a loss of 50 total yards, and five of them came against rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who lost 41 total yards. Muhammad, inside linebacker Elias Neal, inside linebacker Tony Fields II, cornerback Derion Kendrick, outside linebacker Brennan Jackson and defensive lineman Bill Norton all got home for a sack.

Wide receiver Brennan Presley's 51-yard performance lifted him to fourth in the NFL in preseason receiving yards

Presley caught all three of his targets for 51 yards on Saturday, and had the best QBR when targeted on the team (118.8), according to PFF. He also had three carries (all jet sweeps) for 23 yards. In three games, Presley caught 11 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown, making an impressive case for a roster spot, or at least a practice squad nod.
