KUPP FOR 1,000?

NFL Network's Cynthia Freuland put together a list of who she thinks the top 10 slot receivers will be in 2019. To make the list, Freuland writes, "I included only receivers who are forecasted to take at least 50 percent of their snaps from the slot and project to be targeted at least 25 times from this alignment."

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp came in at No. 6 on her list. Here's why:

In only eight games last season, Kupp caught 40 of his 55 total targets (23 of 33 from the slot) and earned 25 first downs while averaging 10.4 air yards per slot target (per Next Gen Stats) and 7.9 yards after the catch per reception before being sidelined with an ACL injury. Since 2017, Rams quarterback Jared Goff has had a 127 passer rating when targeting Kupp (per PFF). My model projects Kupp will pick up right where he left off upon his return to Sean McVay's scheme this season, topping 1,000 receiving yards (specifically, my model projects 1,005).

WHITWORTH A TOP TACKLE

Pro Football Focus ranked its top 10 offensive tackles headed into 2019, and Rams LT Andrew Whitworth came in at No. 4.

Here's what PFF had to say about the 37-year-old Whitworth:

Whitworth's best may be behind him as he enters the 2019 season at 37 years old, but the longtime stalwart – even in decline – is still one of the best offensive tackles in the game. He earned an impressive 86.1 overall grade while also logging 88.5 and 78.4 pass-blocking and run-blocking grades, respectively, with the Rams in 2018.

Among the 64 offensive tackles with 3,000-plus offensive snaps played in the last seven years, Whitworth ranks third in overall grade (92.9) behind Joe Thomas (94.4) and Joe Staley (94.2). Whitworth's 93.6 pass-blocking grade ranks second on the list, as well.

According to PFF, only Kansas City's Mitchell Schwartz, New Orleans' Ryan Ramczyk, and Green Bay's David Bakhtari are better entering 2019.

Players begin to arrive for Rams Camp.

IMPORTANCE OF WOODS

Rams wide receiver Robert Woods made the NFL Top 100 for the first time this year, and it was revealed last night that he came in at No. 76.

Quarterback Jared Goff was featured in the video for Woods making the list, and had some insightful comments about what makes the wide receiver so important to the offense.
