MIDSEASON WINNERS

USA Today's Lorenzo Reyes picked the Rams as one of his 'Midseason Winners' through eight weeks. The Rams join Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the New England Patriots, Steelers running back James Conner, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, and the league's skill-position players in the winners circle.

Here's what Reyes had to say about the Rams at the halfway mark:

The league's lone undefeated team will face a huge test on the road Week 9 against the 6-1 Saints. But the 8-0 Rams have been the best team in football all year long. Coach Sean McVay continues to call a dynamic and diverse game for quarterback Jared Goff. Running back Todd Gurley has a touchdown in 11 straight games and is on pace to tally 30 scores, one shy of LaDainian Tomlinson's record set in 2006. And, [while] defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' unit is in the middle of the pack in yards allowed, it ranks sixth in scoring.

UNHERALDED BALLER

Linebacker Ramik Wilson came up big for the Rams on special teams in Week 8, forcing the fumble that iced L.A.'s hard-fought victory over quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

On Tuesday, ESPN's Cameron Wolfe selected Wilson as one of the 'Unheralded Ballers' from Week 8.

Here's what Wolfe had to say about the fourth-year linebacker:

Ramik Wilson, LB, Los Angeles Rams

Forced fumble and recovery on kickoff late in fourth quarter to secure 29-27 win over Packers

Why it matters: Wilson denied Aaron Rodgers a chance to put together one of his now-expected two-minute comeback drives. Hanging on to a two-point lead with 2:09 left, Wilson forced a Ty Montgomery fumble on a kickoff return and allowed Todd Gurley to run the clock out. That play could have been the difference between keeping the Rams undefeated and a Rodgers comeback. Wilson has primarily been a special-teamer since Mark Barron's return from injury, yet he made a huge splash Sunday. "They left me unblocked and I had to make them pay for it," Wilson said.

Wolfe also included Saints cornerback P.J. Williams in Week 8's selections. Williams had a pick-six in the Saints' victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

GURLEY'S TOUCHDOWNS

ESPN Stats & Info tweeted on Tuesday just how productive running back Todd Gurley has been in head coach Sean McVay's offense since the start of 2017. Gurley has racked nearly as many touchdowns as an entire NFL offense since taking the field under McVay.
