5 players to watch: Rams vs Saints, 2026 Preseason Week 2

For Week 2 of the 2026 preseason, the Rams face off against the Saints on Saturday at SoFi Stadium (1 p.m. PT, KCBS), where Los Angeles will showcase multiple players on offense, defense and special teams that are looking to show off their skills.

Here are five who fans should be paying attention to:

Simpson shined in his three quarters of play last week against the Chiefs, going 21-for-25 passing with 190 yards and two touchdowns. He received 12 of the 25 second-team offense reps in the Rams' joint practice with the Saints, and is continuing to grow as he looks to make an impact this week against the Saints in his SoFi Stadium preseason debut.

"I thought his huddle command was excellent, his ability to articulate the plays and the way that our operation was and then he made the decisions that good quarterbacks make. I thought he delivered the ball on time and in rhythm," McVay said Tuesday of his performance throughout training camp in the reps he gets. "He's done a good job the last couple days in practice and so biggest thing, like what you said, let's maximize the reps that you do get."

On the receiving end of Simpson's two touchdowns was Connors who capitalized on strong outside blocking on a screen pass that led to a 9-yard touchdown, and a rocket across the middle in the endzone for a 2-yard score. Connors ended with four receptions on four targets for 29 yards and also contributed some on the ground with 22 yards on six carries.

Connors will undoubtably attempt to replicate the success he saw in Week 1 of the preseason, and potentially look to add more on the ground to prove his role as a versatile back.

"I'm trying to take pride in being versatile and number one is blocking, running comes next, and receiving might be a little dash in there. So it's always fun," Connors said postgame.

Daniels had a relatively quiet Week 1 of preseason against the Chiefs. He had five targets and connected on two of them for 18 yards. One catch was on a 16-yard crossing route from Simpson that Daniels fought through contact by the linebacker across the middle to make the grab. With his size, receptions alone aren't solely what make Daniels more valuable, as he showcased strong run blocking throughout the day.

This week, back home for his SoFi Stadium debut in the preseason, could be a chance for Daniels to showcase more of the high-level receiving seen in practices throughout training camp.

Last week at Kansas City, Klare finished with seven receptions for 37 yards. In the wake of tight end Davis Allen's quad injury, Klare has been able to take more reps in practices splitting between the first and second-team offense.

"I thought he took a really good step in the right direction and I think he's been the guy that has really benefited the most from reps that he wouldn't have gotten otherwise in Davis' absence," McVay said on Tuesday. "I think the level of play from that group as a whole has raised his play."

Based on how he played against the Chiefs and the fact that over the course of the last week he's been able to take more reps in practice, Klare will be another offensive skill player to watch for to see if he can replicate some of the success he had a week ago.

Last game, Andersen affected the game in every phase. Finishing with eight tackles, two passes defended and one tackle for loss, Andersen was seemingly all over the field on defense making plays against the Saints.

Saturday's game against the Saints will be a great opportunity for Andersen to back up what he was able to do into Week 1 to continue to stack preseason games.
