WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Monday that Harrison Mevis will start at kicker for a second-straight game against the Seahawks this Sunday in Week 11.
Mevis hit all six of his extra point attempts in his NFL debut versus the 49ers on Sunday and did not attempt a field goal. McVay said they thought about giving Mevis the opportunity to kick during the final drive if a fourth-down opportunity presented itself, but it ultimately didn't pan out that way.
He instead opted for the "classy way" to handle the end of the game when up by multiple scores, and ran out the clock instead. McVay was "pleased" with Mevis' performance and mindset.
"It's about being able to consistently replicate that (success) with the surrounding factors," McVay said. "And I thought he did a heck of a job going six-for-six."
McVay continued to express confidence in kicker Joshua Karty, whom the team will continue work with on his development. Still, he won't kick on Sunday unless something unforeseen happens with Mevis.
"I have a lot of belief in Josh Karty," McVay said. "I think he's a guy that's going to have an incredibly bright future. We're going to continue to work with him."
McVay also confirmed that Jake McQuaide will be the team's long snapper moving forward after Alex Ward was waived on Monday morning.
