1) Regarded by Pro Football Focus as one of the best after-the-catch threats in this year's class

Writes PFF NFL Draft Contributor Jordan Plocher: "Ferguson's lethal ability after the catch is evident in the fact that he was targeted on designed screen passes. His 9.0 yards after the catch per reception ranked first in the draft class among tight ends. He averaged 7.0 yards after the catch per reception and forced 30 missed tackles in his college career."

2) Production improved every year at Oregon

Ferguson increased his receptions and receiving yards each season from 2021-24, capped off by career-bests of 43 receptions for 591 yards last year.

3) Elite explosiveness and speed

Kent Lee Platte, the creator of Relative Athletic Score (RAS) – which grades a player's measurements on a 0 to 10 scale compared to their peer group historically – wrote that Ferguson scored a 9.32 out of 10, which ranked 92nd out of 1,338 tight ends from 1987-2025.

His RAS profile produced elite explosion and speed grades.

4) Another Senior Bowl participant

The Senior Bowl annually serves as an important point in the evaluation process for the Rams. Ferguson – and fellow Rams draft pick Josaiah Stewart – both participated in this year's event.

5) Former hooper

Ferguson was a two-year letter winner in basketball at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado, according to his Oregon bio.
