Injury Updates: Puka Nacua day-to-day with ankle sprain but status for Week 7 vs. Jaguars uncertain, plus latest on Blake Corum and Tutu Atwell

BALTIMORE – Rams head coach Sean McVay on Monday said wide receiver Puka Nacua is day-to-day after sustaining an ankle sprain in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Ravens.

McVay also said the team believes Nacua avoided a "long-term" injury based on the results of the scan, but is uncertain about his status for Sunday's Week 7 game against the Jaguars in London.

"We'll be day-to-day with him," McVay said. "Initially he felt pretty good today, but we'll just see how the week progresses."

Nacua's injury occurred while attempting to catch a pass in the end zone during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Ravens. He returned in the third quarter, but was not targeted the rest of the game.

"We were cognizant of maybe not doing some of the different things just because of where we were at that point in the game, and what the circumstances and situation elicited to just ultimately try to be able to win the football game," McVay said.

McVay added that he and Senior Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Reggie Scott were "encouraged" by what the scan revealed.

"Whether that means he's able to play like the guy we're accustomed to seeing on Sunday will be a weekly process for us," McVay said. "And so what we are grateful for is there's nothing on the scan that looks like it's going to be long-term."

As for running back Blake Corum, who also injured his ankle against Baltimore but was able to return, McVay said he's day-to-day and that the team also got positive information on him, though Corum wouldn't practice today if the team did. However, his status for Week 7 is still to be determined.

The team expects wide receiver Tutu Atwell, who missed Sunday's game against the Ravens with a hamstring injury, to be ready to play in Week 7 against the Jaguars, according to McVay. McVay indicated the team took a precautionary approach not playing Atwell in Week 6.

"He had a good workout on Saturday, but it was more along the lines of erring on the side of being safe rather than sorry," McVay said. "Everything is pointing in the direction of him being ready to go. We might have a little bit of a limitation on Wednesday, but he's progressing. We're expecting him to be ready to play on Sunday."
