Selected by the Rams in the 4th round (142nd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft (4/30/22).
NFL Career:
- Played in 13 games with one start as a rookie in 2022. Made his NFL debut on special teams in Week 1 against Buffalo.
- Led the NFL in interception return yards as a rookie (151).
- Recorded 20 tackles (14 solo), three pass breakups, five passes defensed, 1.0 sack, one pressure, one defensive touchdown, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and three interceptions.
- In Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, Durant became the first Rams rookie, and eighth player in NFL history, to record a sack and interception in the same game within their first two NFL games.
- Recorded his first career start in Week 15 against Green Bay in 2022.
- Was voted as the 2022 Carroll Rosenbloom Memorial Award winner by Rams players, honoring the team's rookie of the year.
College: After his high school graduation, Durant spent a year at Palmetto Prep Academy before he walked on to South Carolina State in 2018. Not too long into his collegiate career, Durant received a scholarship to play as a Bulldog and received playing time in his first season. He became a permanent starter during the 2019 season and was selected Second-team All- MEAC. In his 2021 season, Durant was a First-team Associated Press FCS All-American selection. Durant led his team with three interceptions and twelve pass breakups while making 12 starts in his last season as a Bulldog. Overall, he accumulated 38 total tackles and capped the season off with the Cricket Celebration Bowl Dennis Thomas Defensive MVP recognition in a win over Jackson state.
Personal: Cobie Durant was born on February 9, 1998. Durant's passion for football originated from his cousins Markee, Marquais, and Michael Hamlin. Michael Hamlin was drafted in 2009 by the Dallas Cowboys as a fifth-round pick. Durant was a multi-sport athlete at Lamar High School, playing football, baseball, basketball, and track.
