Feature: 'An amazing feeling': Ty Hamilton enjoyed sharing an NFL field with older brother DaVon when Rams took on Jaguars in London

BALTIMORE – As they got closer to the time Ty Hamilton would realizing his NFL dreams this spring, at first he and his older brother DaVon thought maybe they would be playing for the same team.

Ty ended up on the Rams instead of DaVon's Jaguars as a fifth-round draft pick in April. Still, with the Jaguars being one of the Rams' 2025 opponents, they knew they'd be facing each other and sharing an NFL field together.

That came to fruition two weeks ago in London, when Jacksonville hosted Los Angeles at Wembley Stadium.

"It was an amazing feeling," Ty told theRams.com. "It was like a kind of a shift in the Hamilton family. I mean, it was an amazing feeling. Did have my entire family out there, just being me the first time ever to play against him, and hopefully many more to happen. But it was a great feeling. I mean, to be able to see him and look across the field and see someone that you've been watching since you've grown up, and be able to be in the same place that he is, it's amazing."

DaVon is in his sixth NFL season. Originally a third-round pick by the Jaguars in 2020, he signed a three-year extension with Jacksonville in April of 2023.

After getting drafted, Ty spoke about what he's learned from his older brother as he prepared to embark on his own NFL career.

"It's just a lot different, more on the mental side than the physical side, because it's a lot of mental (strength)," Ty said this spring. "Everybody is good in the league, but it's how you are going to take those mental reps and mental snaps to be able to go against a person and beat them. Being able to understand that and just enjoy the process every step of the way is something that he's taught me and something I'm going to carry with me to the NFL."

Ty said this week that DaVon continues to be a resource for Ty as Ty navigates his rookie season. Ty said he tries to call his older brother at last once a week just to talk to him and check in with him.

"It doesn't always have to be about football, but just checking in with him," Ty said. "He's always giving me advice if I need it, because he's been in the game for so long. He can tell different things that I don't see that can help me out when I play football. So it's just been (an) amazing source to be able to pick his brain when I need to."

Their playing careers didn't overlap at Ohio State, so Sunday was a special moment. Postgame, they exchanged jerseys as planned.

"That was one of my goals, to be able to get a jersey and hang it up on a wall and have the Hamilton name just sitting on my wall," Ty said. "He pretty much just told me 'good job' and just go on out there and keep working. I mean, obviously he lost, (so) he was a little bummed out, but at the end of the day, man, we're just happy that each other played well."
