Rams place safety John Johnson III on injured reserve

The Rams placed safety John Johnson III on injured reserve following a shoulder injury he sustained in last Sunday's loss to the 49ers.

Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters Monday that Johnson was scheduled to get a second opinion on the injury Tuesday. McVay also said fourth-year safety Marqui Christian would start in place of Johnson should Johnson miss extended time.

Johnson, who joins CB Aqib Talib on injured reserve, has amassed 50 tackles and two interceptions so far this season.
