College: Copeland was a two-time all-conference honoree who was a significant player on Cincinnati's defensive line over his four year collegiate career. He played in 47 games and recorded 187 tackles, 21.0 TFLs, 8.5 sacks, four passes defensed and two forced fumbles. His senior year in 2018, he finished the year with 53 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, four QB hurries and a pair of pass breakups. The Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree had four games with six or more tackles and tallied three or more on nine occasions. He also had a season-best two sacks against Eastern Carolina. In 2017, the junior earned Honorable Mention All-American Athletic Conference accolades and was a 12-game starter at defensive tackle. He set career-highs with 63 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and a team-high 3.5 sacks. Copeland also set a career-high with 10 tackles against UConn in the season finale, registered 3.0 tackles for loss against Miami (OH) and had four or more tackles in 10 of 12 games. He played in all 12 games his sophomore season finishing with 59 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, two forced fumbles, 1,0 sack and one pass defensed. Copeland recorded five or more tackles in eight games and 39 of his 59 tackles in 2016 came in the last six games of the season. He saw the field in nine of 12 games his freshman season in 2015.Â
Personal: Copeland was listed as a three-star recruit by ESPN and Scout.com heading into college and the no. 33 prospect in the state of Ohio. He chose to attend the University of Cincinnati over schools such as Illinois, Louisville, Indiana, Kentucky and others. Marquise is the son of Tenisha Copeland.
