5 interesting stats from the Rams' 21-19 win over Seahawks: Takeaways galore, defense negates offensive disparities in time of possession and total yards

Coming off three-straight showings with 34-plus points for the Rams' offense, it was the defense that led the way in Week 11. Four interceptions off Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold gave Los Angeles opportunities to score and limit the impact of Seattle's offense, which possessed the ball for a lot longer and gained significantly more yards than the Rams'.

Here are five interesting stats from L.A.'s 21-19 victory over Seattle in Week 11:

The Rams 22:11 of possession time is the second-lowest in a Rams win in the Sean McVay era, according to nflverse data

The lowest was the Rams' Week 6 win over Baltimore, when they possessed the ball for 22:06. They only sustained one drive for longer than five plays in Week 11, which limited their time of possession. Still, they made the most of their four trips to the red zone by scoring three touchdowns to keep them in command throughout the game.

Despite their limited time with the ball, the Rams never trailed. Quarterback Matthew Stafford said postgame that it was "a strange game momentum-wise" because of the turnovers and Seattle's longer drives, which made it difficult for the Rams to find a rhythm offensively.

The Rams' four interceptions matched their most in a game this century (fifth time, first since Week 16, 2022 vs. Denver)

Safety Kam Kinchens snagged two, while cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Darious Williams got one apiece to tie a longstanding mark for the Rams' defense. They needed all four, as two of their three touchdown drives started with interceptions by Kinchens, ones that he returned deep into Seattle territory.

Kyren Williams became the first Rams player with two runs of 30-plus yards in a game since Todd Gurley in Week 4 of the 2015 season, according to nflverse data

It had been a decade since a Rams player achieved what Williams did on Sunday. Runs of 34 and 30 yards in the first quarter, Williams' two longest runs of the season, set the Rams up in the red zone. By the end of the first quarter, Williams had gained more rushing yards (76) against the Seattle than any player had in an entire game this season. He finished with 91 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. Explosiveness has been a point of emphasis for him for a while now, so breaking off a few long runs was a great feeling.

"It felt really good," Williams said postgame. "Like I said, this was something we were working on this whole week, getting to that third level, finding that safety and making that safety miss. I gotta work on my over speed a little bit, but next time I'm gonna put that ball in that (end) zone."

The Rams forced Darnold's worst passer rating (45.5) since Week 18 of the 2022 season as a member of the Panthers

His four interceptions also tied for the most he's thrown in a single game in his career, and his most recent game with that many came in Week 7 of the 2019 season as a member of the Jets. The Rams have given Darnold fits in their three matchups against him since the start of last season, including a nine-sack performance in the wild card round. But nothing he'd experienced over the past two-and-a-half seasons matched what the Rams put him through in Week 11, at least in terms of passer rating.

This was the first time in the McVay era that the Rams have won a game where they were out-gained by at least 150 yards, according to nflverse data

Since McVay took over the Rams in 2017, NFL teams that have been out-gained by at least 150 yards have won 68 times, but the Rams had never done it until Sunday. Seattle won the total yardage battle by 165 (414 to 249), but the Rams' takeaways and efficiency in the red zone led them to a unique victory.

Postgame, McVay said, "We're not gonna apologize for finding different ways to win," and this represented a brand new path to victory for him.
