Back in his prep days, Rams defensive lineman Larrell Murchison teamed with his twin brother Farrell to form a powerhouse backfield at East Bladen high school in Elizabethtown, NC. When Larrell wasn't wrecking shop on the defensive front, he was paving the way for his brother as a fullback.
"He was better than me in every single thing growing up," Murchison said of his brother, who now resides in Charlotte. "We talk to each other every day. That's my best friend for sure."
Coming off his first sack of the season – and first since he broke through for two against the Denver Broncos in his Los Angeles debut on Christmas Day, 2002 – Murchison was our guest on this week's Rams Revealed.
As he and the team practice at Camden Yards and prepare for a trip to London to face the Jaguars, we asked him to assemble an offense composed entirely of Rams defenders.
"We're gonna put Poona Ford at guard, so he can pull and stuff," Murchison said, building his offense from the trenches. "Kobie Turner is smart, he needs to be our center."
He then placed Tyler Davis at the other guard, while assigning rookie Ty Hamilton to left tackle and giving himself the nod at right tackle.
"Braden Fiske is going to be our fullback because he's super fast, good feet. I don't know if he can catch.
"I'm going to put Cobie Durant as my running back," Murchison continued. "Quarterback is going to be… probably, Kam Curl."
If you've seen the recent in-stadium or social video of Curl dominating the defensive back passing competition, that was a savvy selection.
After giving Kamren Kinchens the honor of being the go-to receiver in this offense, he quickly jumped to the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
"And we need Jared Verse – tight end," Murchison exclaimed. "I think we've got an all-star lineup!"
Fault the host of the show for not following up for a second receiver or tight end. At the moment, we've only got 10 Rams in the huddle. However, that leaves the door open to some multiplicity. Whenever offensive coordinator Murch wants to get heavy, he can roll Nate Landman in as an extra tight end. If he wants more of a vertical threat on the perimeter, we might suggest Emmanuel Forbes Jr. as a second receiver.
For now, we'll leave it up to head coach and Sean McVay to run the offensive personnel while Murchison and the Rams defense get back to extending their touchdown-free stretch of football – which now spans nearly seven consecutive quarters.
