Warren McClendon Jr. on seizing his opportunity at right tackle and embracing his role on one the league's most dynamic offenses | Featured on Rams Revealed, Ep. 144

Warren McClendon Jr. was in the right place at the right time on Sunday night.

Not only did he assume a starting role at right tackle for the Los Angeles Rams (9-2), but he found himself seated on the bench in the first half next to tight end Colby Parkinson.

Like all of us, McClendon knew that the veteran tight end had scored in back-to-back games and was due to play an even higher snap-count against Tampa Bay, with Tyler Higbee recently placed on injured reserve. So, he seized the moment.

"Literally the drive before (it happened), I looked over and I was like, hey if you score, you gotta let me spike it," McClendon recounted on a new edition of Rams Revealed. "And then (Colby) scored, and he dropped the ball, and I was like, 'Oh, it's all good.' And he ran over there and grabbed it for me.

"It was pretty cool. I was hoping I had a better spike. It went straight forward. I was hoping to get a little height on it."

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the Rams are heading back east for Week 13 at Carolina. Charlotte is within driving distance of McClendon's hometown in Georgia. However, his parents and sister are in Los Angeles this week – pairing a prime time win with a holiday feast.

"Actually, my dad, I was talking to him (before the game). He was like, 'You gotta spike the ball!' And I was like, 'Ugh. I don't know, but…' It was pretty cool that he was able to come to the game, and I was able to spike it."

McClendon has graded out well in four starts on the right side of the Rams offensive line. In this sit-down, he describes the similarities between the 2025 Rams and the championship rosters he was a part of in Athens. He also lends some perspective on what it's like seeing the Rams deploy multiple tight end sets with regularity. And of course, we have the obligatory Thanksgiving food chat.
