Get to know new Rams DL Ty Hamilton

The Rams selected Ohio State defensive lineman Ty Hamilton with the 148th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Here are five things you should know about him:

Has an older brother in the NFL

Hamilton's brother, DaVon Hamilton, is entering his sixth season in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars after they selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He's also a defensive lineman, and has amassed 206 total tackles (15 for loss) and 4.5 sacks in his career.

Both played defensive line at Pickerington (Ohio) High School Central and then at Ohio State.

Good run stopper

Hamilton started all 16 games of the Buckeyes' 2025 National Championship run last season, and was a stout run stopper in the middle of their defensive line. He ranked eighth in run stop rate among interior defensive linemen drafted in 2025, according to Pro Football Focus.

Appeared in all 55 games for Ohio State from 2021 through 2024

Hamilton was as dependable as they come for the Buckeyes, appearing in every game possible over the past four seasons. He played at least 235 defensive snaps in each year, according to PFF, along with 15-plus special teams snaps.

Assistant coach for a middle school flag football team in 2021

Not only did Hamilton take time out of his busy schedule as a student-athlete to coach a middle school flag football team, but he helped them to a championship in 2021.

Played running back as a kid

Growing up, Hamilton idolized Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson before a growth spurt in seventh grade, after which he switched to defensive end and linebacker, according to his bio in The Athletic's draft guide by Dane Brugler. He eventually transitioned again to the interior defensive line, where he played in college.
