Moved around a lot growing up in a military family

Mumpfield's father, Ceeprian Mumpfield, is an army veteran, so the family moved around to different military bases when Mumpfield was younger. That included stints in Japan and Korea before the family settled in northern Georgia later on.

Thrives in the intermediate area (10-19 yards downfield)

In 2024, Mumpfield totaled 363 receiving yards (and three touchdowns) in the intermediate area, ranking second in the ACC and 25th in the FBS, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). He caught all three contested targets he received in that range.

Considered one of the best route runners from Day 3

What Mumpfield lacks in size and explosiveness, he makes up for in route precision. Many analysts consider him to be one of the better route runners selected on Day 3 of this year's draft.

"Mumpfield can skillfully poke holes in coverage, and he constructs routes with pacing, purpose and salesmanship," wrote The Athletic's Dane Brugler.

Has known Rams senior personnel executive Ray Farmer since childhood

Farmer has been a family friend of Mumpfield's father since middle school. In his draft day press conference, Mumpfield said Farmer was always willing to give him guidance and advice. Farmer was the first one to speak to him when the Rams called on draft day, ending the conversation with "tell your pops I said what's up."

Can play out wide or in the slot

62.2% of Mumpfield's snaps last season came out wide, while 37.4% of his snaps were in the slot, where he collected 419 of his 813 receiving yards last season (51.5%), per PFF.
