Rams buscan, con Garoppolo y otros suplentes, amarrar el lugar 3 de la NFC para los playoffs | Vista previa del partido

El posible rival en los playoffs

Y finalmente, Tyler Higbee se hizo merecedor a los premios Carl Ekern al Espíritu del Juego, el cual se entrega al jugador que mejor ejemplifica el deportivismo, ética y compromiso con sus compañeros, además del premio Ed Block al Coraje, que se otorga al hombre que es mejor ejemplo de inspiración y coraje. Esto, luego de que el veterano ala cerrada regresó a jugar en diciembre tras recuperarse de una brutal lesión de rodilla sufrida en enero, además de una cirugía de hombro.

Jared Verse al Pro Bowl

Luego de un debut de impacto en la NFL, el linebacker exterior Jared Verse fue elegido esta semana al Pro Bowl, el único jugador de los Rams en la lista. "De verdad nunca pensé en ello. Siempre pensé en salir a la cancha, hacer lo que fuera necesario y todo lo demás va a venir solo", dijo el tremendo atleta de 24 años. "Nunca he pensado en este premio o ese premio; en esta nominación o esa nominación. Es solo trabajar y que pase lo que tenga que pasar".

- Al igual que en la Semana 18 de la campaña pasada, Matthew Stafford y la mayoría de los jugadores titulares de la ofensiva de los Rams mirarán desde la lateral el primer inicio de Jimmy Garoppolo con el equipo y su primero en la NFL en 433 días. No lo ha hecho desde el 30 de octubre de 2023 cuando militaba en los Raiders. Considerando la inactividad y el personal que tendrá a su alrededor, las expectativas sobre su actuación deben ser reservadas, pero los Rams quieren ganar este partido y será cuestión de que Garoppolo vaya entrando en ritmo y sintiéndose cómodo para poder ver algunas jugadas atrevidas. Por cierto, hace un año Carson Wentz lanzó 24 pases y corrió 17 veces en un triunfo sobre los 49ers en una situación similar.

- Se espera que los Rams corran el balón de manera frecuente contra un equipo que es muy fuerte contra el pase, pero no tanto por la vía terrestre (4.6 yardas por acarreo, lugar 22). Blake Corum será el corredor primario de Los Ángeles y tendrá la oportunidad de mostrar su calidad. El novato ha tenido buenos momentos en algunos partidos a pesar de que sus números son discretos (56 intentos para 197 yardas). Tal vez tenga la oportunidad de conseguir el primer touchdown de su carrera profesional.

- El jugador más determinante en la ofensiva de los Seahawks ya no lo es D.K. Metcalf, ni tampoco Tyler Lockett. La defensa de los Rams tiene que frenar lo más posible a Jaxon Smith-Njigba, quien lidera al equipo por la vía aérea con 96 recepciones, 1,121 yardas y 6 touchdowns. Este hombre es capaz de hacer todo tipo de atrapada y puede aparecer por todo el campo. Enfrentarlo a él y al resto del elenco a disposición del quarterback Geno Smith será una excelente puesta a punto para quienes jueguen en la defensiva secundaria de Los Ángeles.
