College: During his time at San Diego State, Thomas started 41 games on the offensive line, 17 games at right tackle, 12 at left tackle, and two at right guard. In his final two seasons, he only committed three penalities on 1,144 snaps. During his final campaign in 2021, Thomas was named First-Team All-Mountain West by the league's coaches and media, and was also named to the Pro Football Focus First-Team Mountain West Team of the Year. He was named to the Outland Trophy Award Watch List (most outstanding interior lineman) and to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List. Taylor also earned SDSU's Best Offensive Player by College Football News. He allowed just 3.0 sacks and eight quarterback hurries in 382 snaps at left tackle. He was graded as the 16th offensive lineman in FBS by Pro Football Focus (87.2 grade, 600 snaps). Taylor ranked the No. 3 offensive lineman in the Mountain West and the No. 18 run blocker. He earned his first collegiate start at left tackle against New Mexico State and played all 65 snaps, earning SDSU's top offensive grade (94.5), according to PFF. Against Arizona, Taylor played 72-of-73 snaps not allowing any pressures for the game. During the 2020 season, he earned Second-Team All-Mountain West by the league's media and coaches, and was named preseason All-Mountain West Third-Team selection by Athlon Sports. Taylor started eight games at right tackle, playing 556-of-560 offensive snaps (99.3 percent). He allowed only 2.0 sacks in 220 passing plays and four pressures for the season. Taylor did not have any penalties in 560 offensive snaps. As a junior in 2019, he appeared in 12 games (nine starts at right tackle) and earned honorable mention selection for the Pro Football Focus Mountain West Team of the Year. Against Hawai'i, Taylor was named to the Pro Football Focus Second-Team National Team of the Week and to the Pro Football Focus Team of the Week. During the 2018 season, he appeared in three games (two starts at right guard) before missing the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, he appeared in all 13 games blocking on PATs and field goals. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2016.
Personal: A 2016 graduate of Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, CA., Thomas was a two-year letterwinner and helped lead his team to the Avocado West League championship. He was named All-CIF San Diego Section First-Team offense and Avocado West League First-Team honoree. As a senior, he totaled 47 tackles (34 solo), 3.0 sacks, and a team-high 11 tackles for loss. Thomas is the son of Mike and Wendy Thomas, and has a brother Cameron who played Defensive line for the Aztecs. During his time at SDSU, he majored in interdisciplinary studies.
